Delete Your Groovr Account

You can request deletion of your Groovr account and associated personal data at any time. This page explains how to submit a deletion request, what data will be permanently deleted, and what — if anything — is retained for legal or safety reasons.

Account deletion is permanent and cannot be undone. Once your account is deleted, you will lose access to your record collection, swap history, wishlists, and all in-app messages.

How to Request Deletion

You have two ways to delete your account:

Option 1Delete using the button above

Use the Delete My Account button at the top of this page. You will be asked to confirm before anything is deleted. Deletion is immediate and permanent.

Option 2Delete directly in the app

Open the Groovr app on your device.
Tap the Profile tab (bottom-right of the screen).
Scroll down and tap Settings.
Tap Delete Account and confirm.

Option 3Request via email

Send a deletion request to privacy@groovr.me from the email address associated with your Groovr account. Include the subject line:

We will verify your identity and process your request within 30 days, in accordance with applicable data protection laws.

What Data Is Deleted

Upon deletion of your Groovr account, the following personal data is permanently and irreversibly erased from our systems:

Account info — Email address, username, hashed password

Profile data — Profile photo, city/region, preferred genres

Record listings — All records you added to your collection, including photos and notes

Wishlist — All wishlist items

Swap activity — All swap offers sent and received, including their status history

Messages — All in-app chat messages sent or received

Swipe history — Your pass/save actions on other users' records

Notification tokens — Push notification endpoint and keys stored for your device(s)

Data Retained After Deletion

In limited circumstances, we may retain certain data after your account is deleted:

Anonymised transaction records — Records of completed swaps may be retained in anonymised, non-identifiable form for up to 3 years for fraud prevention and platform integrity purposes.

Legal or regulatory obligations — If we are required by law, court order, or regulatory authority to retain specific data, we will do so for the minimum period required and no longer.

Safety and abuse records — If your account was suspended or investigated for policy violations, certain records may be retained for up to 2 years to prevent re-registration.

Any retained data is kept strictly for the stated purpose and deleted as soon as the retention period expires.

Deletion Timeline

Once you submit a deletion request, here is what happens:

Immediately: Your profile and listings are hidden from other users. You will be signed out of all devices.

Within 30 days: All personal data listed above is permanently deleted from our active databases.

Within 90 days: Data is purged from all backups and disaster-recovery systems.
